Abstract
AAU Book Exchange is a web site for AAU Students who pay too much money for books, and get a fraction of the price when selling them back to the bookstores. This website will allow students to exchange used books for books they require. With a streamline interface, built with the appropriate technologies for its functionality and a strong focus on usability. The user will be able to post available books, search needed books and find the appropriate match to do the exchange.

Detail Page

The Target Audience
On and off campus, graduate and under graduate AAU Students and teachers who spend money in paper and electronic books required by AAU.

Objective
To provide a usable platform with a streamline interface to help AAU students to get the books they need without having to spend any money, thus allowing students to recycle the value of their books. In a not to far away paperless future, this website will be ready to handle electronic book technology when this one becomes available for book exchange.

Benefits
Hard
· Save money in books
· Environmentally friendly by recycling books
· Extend the life of books

Soft
· Networking with other students of AAU
· Feeling of accomplishment for helping each other and the environment
· Hear reviews of the books by other students

Platform
This will be a web based application whose interface will be done with client side technologies such as: HTML, CSS, Flash, Action Script, and server side: Java and SQL database.

Trends
In a society in which people are more and more aware of our environment, and an economy that is pushing us to find ways to be less wasteful and more resourceful, many websites around the nation and the world are finding ways to be more environmentally conscious by recycling things, in some cases things are just given away, auctioned or sold, and others just exchanged. AAU Book Exchange will be a safe and friendly platform for AAU students to do both, help the environment and help their economy.

Statement of Interest
Every semester I have to buy new books, spending a lot of money. Some times I am able to find the books used, but end up paying only a small percentage less than the regular price; when I sell the books back to the library I get a small fraction of the book’s price.
I found some of my engineering books that I paid over a $100 each and, knowing that I would get close to nothing for them, I was thinking of a way to contact students that have the books I need and need the books I have to help each other. With a website that has AAU students and teachers as its demographics, finding what I need to exchange it for what I have would be easy.
